I loved joining in last week with Ginny at Small Things and getting to read so many new blogs, so I will continue on with the (new) tradition!
This picture represents my knitting and my reading, and also shows the fact that my knitting has almost completely overtaken my reading! With Christmas looming and gifts still to finish, I have not made much progress with Animal, Vegetable, Miracle, but I am loving the little snippets I am sneaking in here and there! Now as far as the knitting goes, I am progressing nicely! This is another scarf, but this one is for my sister, who is a bit of a fashionista. She loves pink, but I wanted this scarf to make a bold but not too girly statement. She is after all, in her twenties, and no longer a little girl (although she will always be my little sister :). I made it extra wide and long, so she can wrap it around herself any which way she pleases. The wool is super chunky to begin with, and I doubled it up to get the pattern effect with the pink and white. I think it is gorgeous, and I hope she will feel the same way! My mom's scarf is still unfinished, but coming along beautifully. I will share a picture of the finished product at a later date. Thank you for stopping by, have a lovely Wednesday, hopefully full of knitting, reading, drinking tea, and enjoying this wonderful time of year!

Super job!
ReplyDeleteMy husband (who's work I posted last week...)has knit a scarf doubling up like you did. It really is a nice effect.
Thanks for sharing!
Love the color of your scarf and how wonderful that your knitting is coming along so well! Mine is not moving quite as quickly *grin*. Have a wonderful day :)
ReplyDeletegreat colors - I love the pink/white combination :)
ReplyDeletehave a great Christmas :) and lots of time for knitting/reading/relaxing... :)
I think your sister will love the scarf. The pink and white are just lovely.

Love that chunky wool and the texture of it. Animal Vegetable Miracle is one of my favorite books. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a sweet gift for your sister, I love pink. I also have that book and started reading it last year, but need to finish...good book!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like it will be extra cozy!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful scarf. I think you are going to make your sister very happy!
ReplyDeleteI love how your positioning of the items is representational. Your knitting is just engulfing everything. Too funny. I don't knit much, but I crochet and these types of crafts are so addictive aren't they?
ReplyDeleteI was curious about the pattern. The middle looks like it's running back and forth and then the sides are running up and down. Is that trim on each side or is it just the way the scarf is folded? It looks super cozy. I'm sure your sister will be really pleased with your thoughtful present.
Beautiful looking yarn! It really does look very cozy.
ReplyDeleteHello everyone, and thank you for all of your wonderful comments! To the feral woodwife (love the name by the way!), yes that is a border on the outside of the scarf. It is super easy, all I do is only knit the first and last 3 stitches on each row, no matter if the row calls for knit or purl (they alternate to get the inside patter-called stockinette stitch). I believe that the border is called garter stitch then, but don't quote me on that, as I just kind of go along as I like, no pattern! I did the border in order to stop the edges of the scarf from curling inward. Hope you are all having a lovely day!
ReplyDeleteYour knitting looks great and that is one of my favorite books -enjoy.
